About the studio
“Most good design is patience. We would rather make one thing that lasts than ten things that get noticed.”
The studio
Brimvold started in 2014 in the back room of a print workshop, with one designer, a proofing press and a single client: a museum that needed its signs replaced before the summer.
Twelve years later we are four people in a room on the harbour. We still proof on paper, test signs at full size on site, and write every guideline so that someone outside the studio can follow it.
We take on about ten projects a year. That is enough to keep the work varied and few enough that each one gets our full attention.
When we are not working for clients, we publish a small journal about type, maps and making things by hand.
